HMS Dauntless Launch - Govan Shipyard
Arena Seating was contracted to provide seating when HMS Dauntless, one of a new generation of warships, was officially launched at the BAE Systems shipyard in Govan in the South of Glasgow.
About 8,000 people attended the launch in the freezing wind and rain to see a parade of local sea cadets release a flurry of balloons.
This was a very challenging project as we had very tight measurements to work too and very fraught weather conditions.
The end project, as you can see from the pictures ended up being 1m away from the Grandstand, which was very close indeed!
The fleet of up to eight Type 45 anti-air warfare destroyers will, in concert with the Future Aircraft Carrier, provide the backbone of the Royal Navy’s air defences for much of the first half of the 21st century.
The ships are named Daring, Dauntless, Diamond, Dragon, Defender and Duncan with possibly two others.
